Adrian Ioniţă (Romania, USA)

Sculptor, Writer, Philosopher

Adrian Ioniţă, (b.1952) holds a Master’s Degree in Sculpture from the Nicolaie Grigorescu Institute of Art in Bucharest, Romania. As described by the late Romanian art critic Mihai Driscu, he “belongs to the rare species of perpetual designers and draftsmen” and is the creator of several monumental sculptures for national and international sculpture symposiums. After immigrating to the United States in 1985 he taught figure modeling  at the prestigious School of the Art Institute in Chicago, and then embarked for many years on some major architectural restoration projects in the Midwest, including the Merchandise Mart, the Museum of Science and Industry, and the period style residential mansions in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. As a writer and philosopher, he published short stories, poetry, and articles about Buddhism, mental imagery and craftsmanship, and in 2008, after meeting legendary steampunk artist and activist Johnny Payphone he launched, with Johnny, through EgoPhobia and Egotrans, the largest promotion of the steampunk phenomenon in Eastern Europe.

He supports Asociaţia EGOPHOBIA.
